Jean of Arc- Self Reflection

 Jean of Arc- Self Reflection

For the project i started off with researching the main theme when it comes to the colour scheme and what kind of imagery i should have been using. Majority of the results were prompting me towards the floret of Jean which she used as well as towards the sword that she has used and the stake at which she has been burnt.

To further emphasize the project I decided to research what kind of posters does ENO made in order to make sure that my posters fits their ethos and ideologies. So, after research I have found out that majority of the posters/promotional material was made abstract and were aiming to be minimalist where there was a singular overpowering theme of the poster.

So, I decided to put all of this together and at first when playing around with typography I came to conclusion that to make the piece piece abstract I can merge the J's together as an initial of Jean thus creating arches. As well as mirroring one of the J's in the middle to create the sword. And for the background I have a repetition of fleur-de-lis.

To avoid the stereotypical representation I wanted to avoid putting in her face or armour as I wanted to make something more sophisticated where the viewer would think upon viewing the poster.

Also, at the handle of the dagger/sword I wanted to include a smoke to represent her burning at the stake however after some feedback from my friends and relatives they have preferred the version without the smoke as they think it fit together.

When it comes to the colour scheme chosen by me I was influenced by the colours that were evident in other posters and operas that have been made which was blue and gold.
